3 Ways to Use Wallpaper as Holiday Decor

It’s no secret that the holiday season is one of the most fun times to let your creativity run wild because, let's face it, a festive home is a happier one. If you’ve put up your tree, decorated it, and feel like you’ve hung up as many garlands as your space can handle, we have some ideas to take your home to the next level this season.

Here are three ideas to incorporate some festive wallpaper in unexpected (and temporary) ways for a unique holiday flair.

1. Spice Up Your Mantel

We all know the drill with a mantel around this holiday season. Garlands, stockings, and candles are great, but there’s only so much you can do with these pieces. If you really want to make a statement, try some peel-and-stick wallpaper. Add self-adhesive wallpaper behind the mantel to highlight your existing decor and add a focal point to your space. Or consider ditching all the unnecessary trinkets crowding your mantelpiece for one cheery backdrop for a clean and impactful look. Our Moroccan Stamp design is the perfect way to add a festive touch that isn’t overbearing and, best of all, it’s temporary!

2. Frame Some Festive Wallpaper

Finding the right framed artwork for a home can be daunting and time-consuming. While this may be true, it can be a good option for holiday decor. Similar to the mantel idea, this can save you the clutter and hassle of small decor pieces by changing a room’s atmosphere using its walls. Consider finding your favorite festive wallpapers and framing them for an easy option. We recommend our Merian or Vista 13 mural for a versatile, wintery look that will complement your existing holiday decor and still look good in the room after the season is over. Using wallpaper in this way also saves you the time and effort of typical wallpaper installation. This is also an opportunity to use extra wallpaper scraps or samples any time of the year.

3. Create a Holiday-Themed Accent Wall

An accent wall is one of our favorite ways to spruce up a space. Whether you’re hosting or keeping things quiet this year, the holidays are perfect for playing around with your creative side and trying something new! Luckily, our peel-and-stick wallpapers can help you do this with ease. Consider a space you don’t typically give your attention to, like behind a bookshelf or storage console. We love a design like our Damask Stripe wallpaper for a quick touch of holiday cheer.

From wintery scenes to retro sparkles to red and green color combos, here are some additional wallpaper designs to get you in the holiday spirit. Happy wallpapering!
