Three DIY Projects With Wallpaper Scraps

We all know the power a good wallpaper can have on a space. The right wallpaper can take a room from dull to chic in minutes, or give an overlooked space personality. But what to do with those wallpaper scraps? As we wrap up Earth Month, we’re considering how to take wallpaper beyond the walls and repurpose them into sustainable home decor. Keep reading for a few fun (and easy) ideas to upcycle wallpaper you might have laying around!

1. Give furniture a makeover

Instead of throwing out or donating that old nightstand, why not try wallpapering it? Not only does this give the furniture a second life, it allows you to add your own personal touches to a piece! This works particularly well with drawer and cabinet fronts. This is a quick and mess-free way to elevate a space while also creating a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture, that’s also easy on your wallet. See how we styled our Diamonds wallpaper design on a media console’s cabinets.

2. Frame it

Wallpaper is essentially a form of art…so why not frame it? This is a wonderful way to liven up your space using wall art without going through the tedious process of actually sourcing artwork. This solution is ideal for smaller pieces of wallpaper or samples, but any extras will do as long as they are cropped correctly to fit the frame. We chose to style our Texas Toile design in a frame for a fun pop of color!

3. Arts and crafts

Save those scraps for bookmaking, greeting cards, or other paper crafts. Whether hosting a fun afternoon with friends or having a crafty night with the kids, the possibilities are endless! Because wallpaper tends to be made from a thicker, paper-like material, it’s perfect for folding into fun shapes. Here at Astek Home HQ, we hosted a “crafternoon” where our staff learned to fold our wallpaper scraps into holiday stars!
