Mambo for Cats
A fun-filled music pattern with cats, congas and tons of rhythm!
Flora worked at Columbia Records from 1942 to 1950, illustrating ads, promo pieces and album covers. He went freelance in 1951 (after a year-long Mexican sojourn) and began illustrating cartoonish LP covers for RCA Victor in 1954. Flora’s renowned "Mambo for Cats" cover appeared in 1955. The bold color combination and Picasso-like cats work like visual choreography in this striking example of Flora's "rhythmic design," the counterpart to the music in the LP grooves.
